AI Transparency Statement
Effective July 27, 2026
TeachWell AI uses artificial intelligence to help teachers do their work faster. This page explains how, in plain language, so schools and teachers know what to expect.
1. How we use AI
AI powers three tools inside the product. The Lesson Planner drafts lesson plans based on the grade, subject, topic, and length the teacher enters. The Grading Assistant drafts feedback and a suggested score based on the assignment prompt, the rubric, and the student response the teacher provides. The parent message helper drafts short, respectful messages to families based on what the teacher wants to communicate.
2. Students never use TeachWell AI
TeachWell AI is used only by teachers. No student logs in, and no student interacts with the AI. The AI is never placed in a student's hands. It is a tool for the educator, working behind the scenes to remove busywork so the teacher can focus on the classroom.
3. The teacher is always in control
AI drafts. The teacher approves. A teacher reviews and edits every AI output before it is saved, shared, or sent. The AI never assigns a grade of record on its own, and it never sends a parent message on its own. Any score the Grading Assistant produces is a suggestion the teacher can accept, adjust, or discard.
4. We do not train on your data
We never use student data or teacher data to train AI models. Lesson content, feedback drafts, parent messages, grades, and student information a teacher enters are used to generate the output the teacher requested. They are not fed back into model training, either by us or by our AI provider under our agreement.
5. Student data and FERPA
TeachWell AI handles student information only to provide the service to the school. We act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA, and we work only under the school's direction.
We do not sell student data. We do not use student data for advertising. We do not use it for any purpose other than delivering the tools the teacher requested.
Student data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We are prepared to sign a district data privacy agreement before a district relies on us, and we recognize the Texas Data Privacy Agreement as the regional standard for our Texas schools.
6. You always know it is AI
AI drafts are clearly labeled inside the product as AI generated. The teacher always sees that a draft came from the model, so it is easy to review with the right level of care before approving it.
7. Fairness
AI systems can reflect bias present in their training data. We review our prompts and outputs for bias, and we keep improving them. We also encourage teachers to check every AI output for accuracy and fairness before using it with students or families. A teacher's professional judgment is the final word.
